United Investments Portugal strengthened its presence in the North of Portugal, with the acquisition of Quinta Marques Gomes, in Vila Nova de Gaia. The new upscale project includes a strong residential component and a hotel development with destination spa. With a global investment of approximately 200 million euros, between five and seven years, this will be an exclusive and differentiating project of the group in Portugal.
The new UIP project is already under construction and will feature a boutique hotel with an international brand, a reference spa in the national panorama and food & beverage area, in addition to a strong component of upscale Real Estate that combines residential tourism and first and second home units – the Real Estate sales are already underway.
Carlos Leal, general manager of United Investments Portugal, says: “This is one of the most ambitious projects for the group. We are very excited, as it strengthens group’s solidity and growth, as well as the presence of UIP in Portugal, more specifically in the North region of Portugal, Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. It will be a differentiating project with a strong impact on the current national tourism landscape.”
With a privileged location, overlooking the Douro River and the Atlantic Ocean, surrounded by extensive green areas, the property has an area of 40 hectares and 115 thousand m2 of construction.
For more than 30 years in Portugal, the new development in Vila Nova de Gaia reinforces UIP presence in the national market where it already has projects in the Algarve (Pine Cliffs Resort), Cascais (Sheraton Cascais Resort), Porto (YOTEL Porto) and Lisbon (Hyatt Regency Lisboa).
